Bronislaw Malinowski (1884–1942) was a pioneering anthropologist of the 1920s and 1930s. While renowned for his contributions to fieldwork methods and anthropological theory, he also championed the practical application of anthropology. He believed anthropologists should advocate for Indigenous communities, engage in policy and politics, and study contemporary social issues. By 1999, twenty-eight recipients had received the Award, each reflecting key themes in the evolution of applied anthropology. Their Malinowski Award addresses offer valuable insights into the field’s development and the pressing issues of their time. This collection includes all available Malinowski Award addresses, along with biographical essays on each recipient and on Malinowski himself. Format: Digital download (PDF)
