Lamin O. Touray: I am a PhD student in the Environmental Social Science program at Arizona State University. My broad research interest lies at the intersection of international development and sustainability. My dissertation project focuses on peri-urbanization and environmental change in The Gambia. I examine how peri-urban land and institutional struggles shapes housing estate expansion, land-use land cover transformation, ecological changes, and flood disasters in Kombo.
I hold a Master’s degree in Environmental Social Science from Arizona State University, a Master’s degree in International Development from the University of Antwerp, Belgium and a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies from the University of The Gambia. I have worked in NGOs and academia. It is my passion for sustainability that led me to my current Ph.D. program in Environmental Social Science.
