I am a PhD student in the Integrative Anthropological Sciences Ph.D. program at the University of Central Florida (UCF). My research focuses on mental health issues, particularly depression and anxiety disorders—among adults aged 65 and older in Central Florida. I examine how socioeconomic and cultural factors shape these mental health challenges and explore how older adults manage their well-being within their communities.

My work uses anthropological methods such as participant observation and semi-structured interviews to understand the cultural constructions of mental health in aging populations. Ultimately, my research contributes to medical anthropology by informing the development of culturally sensitive mental health policies and interventions.

I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Anthropology from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. After working in academia at Comilla University, Bangladesh, I pursued a second master’s degree in Anthropology at Florida Atlantic University(FAU) before beginning my PhD at UCF.
