Ana Maria Garrido: “I am a Ph.D. candidate in Anthropology at the University of Florida, with over twelve years of research experience in the Colombian Pacific. My work focuses on Afro-descendant communities, environmental governance, conservation, and forest–people interactions. My doctoral research in Bahía Málaga examines conservation as both a moral and material economy, produced through the interplay of local ecological knowledge, affective labor, and technoscientific infrastructures. Trained at the science–policy interface and with prior experience in Colombia’s public research institutions, my research bridges anthropology, ethnobotany, and science and technology studies, and contributes to broader debates on conservation, inequality, and sustainability.”
