Suman Acharya recently earned his Ph.D. in Anthropology and Environmental Policy from the University of Maine. His research focused on the sociopolitical dimensions of climate change adaptation among vulnerable communities in Nepal’s Karnali region. Currently, he is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Central Florida’s esilient, Intelligent, and Sustainable Energy Systems (RISES) Center. With an interdisciplinary background as an environmental anthropologist, forester, and climate scientist, his work centers on the human dimensions of climate change, adaptation governance, power dynamics, environmental justice, Indigenous studies, collective action, and social-ecological systems. His current research integrates disaster risk reduction, emergency management, and urban resilience with climate change. Previously, he was a Climate Change Specialist for Nepal’s Adaptation for Smallholders in Hilly Areas Project (ASHA) project and has consulted for organizations in Nepal and USA. Suman serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences and contributes to global climate adaptation efforts.
