Sophie McKenzie is a visual anthropologist currently working as a Research Coordinator on the Youth Health Team at the British Columbia Centre on Substance Use which is located on the unceded ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations (colonially known as Vancouver). She recently completed her Masters in anthropology at the University of British Columbia. Previously, she worked at the BC Centre for Disease Control on The Peer2Peer Project during which she developed an interest in working with peer workers, or people with lived and living experience with substance use who use that experience in their professional work. She is also a professional dancer, actor, singer-songwriter, and illustrator.
